GETTING STARTED / VMESH
VMESH security: backup, recovery and scam prevention
A concise security guide for wallet owners, miners and server operators.
Protect your private keys
- Never share recovery words with anyone, including supposed support staff.
- Avoid keeping seeds in chats, screenshots or unencrypted cloud notes.
- Use device updates, strong passwords and multi-factor authentication where available.
- Keep encrypted, separated backups and test recovery.
Recognize scams
Claims of guaranteed mining profit or price appreciation should be treated as red flags. Verify domains, downloaded binaries and receiving addresses. Messaging accounts and social media profiles can also be compromised.
For node operators
- Distinguish P2P
29666/tcpfrom administrative RPC29667/tcp. - Use SSH keys, firewall restrictions and unprivileged service accounts.
- Back up before upgrades and monitor disk capacity, memory and chain height.
⚠
No legitimate troubleshooting requires your 12/24-word phrase or publicly exposed administrative RPC.
