Install a VargaMesh full node on Ubuntu

Operate a full node, validate blocks yourself and protect its administrative interfaces.

What a full node does

A full node independently validates transactions, blocks and consensus rules. It can relay blocks to peers and serve locally verified chain data. Mainnet P2P uses 29666/TCP; JSON-RPC is an administrative interface, not a public endpoint.

Get VargaMesh Core

  1. Download an architecture-matched package from VargaMesh Core Releases.
  2. Verify published hashes and release notes.
  3. Extract binaries to a controlled directory and keep data and configuration separate.
  4. Start vargameshd using the configuration suitable for that release.

Example local-only RPC config

Terminal / config
# Example: ~/.vargamesh/vargamesh.conf
server=1
listen=1
rpcbind=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
# Mainnet P2P port: 29666

Check synchronization

Terminal / config
vargamesh-cli getblockchaininfo
vargamesh-cli getnetworkinfo
vargamesh-cli getpeerinfo

Compare your best chain height and hash to an independent explorer. Actual executable paths and available options may differ by release.

Security checklist

  • Allow inbound 29666/tcp only if your node should accept public peers.
  • Never allow public unauthenticated access to 29667/tcp.
  • Plan upgrades and backups.
  • Prefer a dedicated unprivileged service user over root.
⚠
Do not overwrite an existing node service or delete chain data when deploying another website on the same host.
